Getting new irons is a big decision and making the wrong decision can cost you money and time. Irons are a very important tool that you will be using to score better on the golf course.
This means that you want to get the right irons for you and the Callaway Diablo Edge irons are built to fit many different golfers. They are made with a deeper and lower center of gravity to help golfers get the ball up in the air easier all the way from the longest iron to the shortest one.
The benefits of the Callaway Diablo Edge irons
When you choose to go with the Diablo irons you are choosing an iron that gives you a much larger effective hitting area than many other irons on the market. This is a more forgiving iron that can be hit with much better consistency.
They are also made to be longer, which means you can hit the ball further than you can with shorter irons. The sole is also designed to make it harder to hit the ball thin or fat, which is always a plus for the amateur golfer. This is also an iron set that is designed to make off center hits turn out better. Callaway has built these irons to help make the fade player hit the ball straighter or even with a slight draw.
The Key Features of these Irons:
• Lower and Deeper center of gravity for longer and straighter shots
• Solid impact sole to help with fat and thin shots
• Built with Callaway’s VFT Technology
• 360 degree Undercut Channel to help with feel
• Modified Tru-Bore to help maximize distance
• Option to replace the longer irons with hybrid clubs
• Built with the True Temper M10 Flighted Steel Shaft or the Diablo Edge Graphite Shaft
The price is right on these irons
Iron sets can be very expensive and can retail for well over $1,000 in many cases. However, the Callaway Diablo Edge irons retail for only $599 for the steel shafted set and $799 for graphite shafts. This is a very reasonable price for a quality product from Callaway.
Typically an iron set that is designed with the different technologies that these are would go for a much higher price, but Callaway has made these affordable for many golfers that want to play a new set of irons that is built for quality.
The Testing Phase
When they were tested these irons we found that most testers saw a higher ball flight, which is no surprise with the lower center of gravity. Many players that have never been able to draw the ball before were able to do so and even on off center hits the irons were pretty accurate.
Many of the testers said these are some of the easiest irons they have every hit. The only negative that was mentioned was that some did not like the way the iron looked at address and figured that would take some getting used to.
Who are the Callaway Diablo Edge irons built for?
The Callaway Diablo Edge irons can be played by anybody, however, those that prefer a blade style are not going to like these irons very much. They are really designed for someone that struggles to hit their irons and hits many fat and thin shots.
They are made to help make the fat shots and the thin shots better along with the shots that miss the middle of the club face. These are geared towards the player that has a higher handicap and is trying to play better golf, but even though I’m an 8, I am considering them, as I have an old set of Mizuno’s that are just too tough to hit consistently.

The loft on these irons are 1-2 degrees stronger than the X-22. Liked both, but had my heart set on the 22′s. $400 for a new set at a golf show made it all the easier.
In talking with a GM of a PGA Superstore here in Arizona, he was telling me most of the golf companies have increased lofts so each club goes farther, but it’s all marketing to get the golfer to feel like they are hitting it farther.

After almost a 15 year time off from golfing, I am now dedicating time and money to become as good a golfer I can. I am 55 years old and in good general health (all right, a little overweight). My 2 sons, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and my wife are all either average or beginning golfers. I want to be compeditive with golfers half my age. So I have done a couple of things. I went to a local golf shop for a club fitting and the Diablo Edge Irons with the Senior Flex Graphite shafts were what was recommended. I ordered a set along with the driver and fairway clubs and a #5 Hybrid. I have taken a few lessons and played less than a dozen 18 hole rounds, but I am really liking the clubs the more I use them. They are forgiving and do help get the ball up in the air. In addition I have purchased Mike Pederson’s Training System, which I am looking forward to getting started on soon. I am hoping by Summer to be able to match or beat my much younger fellow golfers. Wish me luck!
Sounds like you have a game plan Stan! And I thank you for getting my system. Keep me posted on your progress.

I also got one of Mike’s DVD’s. Golf Stretching for a Better Swing. Worked with it all winter for the past two years, BIG help. Thanks Mike.

I play a set of wilson staff ci7 irons that i had fit to me at the golf shop down the road from my parents, and i haven’t played a set of irons that i like better. they are forgiving, but at the same time let you put shape on the ball and the offset isn’t too crazy. and they’re cheaper than most of the other big brands. i think wilson is making ci9′s now, which i haven’t hit yet, but i would imagine they’d play similar to mine.
That’s great! Sometimes you do a little hunting around, and you’ can get a deal like you did.

This could be of some help
I play Diablo Edge. They have the performance of forged but are more forgiving than traditional forged club. I particularly enjoy hitting the four and five irons .Ten rating from me.
Glad to hear you chose the right clubs. I think the Diablo Edge is a good fit for many golfers.

I love hearing stories where golfers like yourself found a clubfitter and came away with a set you’re really happy with.
Cheers,
Mike
Robert, you are correct. The Callaway Diablo irons are not for me, as I have made my decision, but will continue to review irons to help golfers make a better, more informed decision. I bought the Titleist AP1′s. I can tell already I’m going to love them.
Stay tuned for me reviews!

“I bought the Titleist AP1′s”
Mike, from everything I have heard, great set of irons. ENJOY!
Hit’em yesterday for the first time. I like them
After being a 1-2 rounds per yr golfer, I’m starting to get more serious about my swing. I’ve been playing hand me down Ping Eye irons for the last 10+ years. Finally gave into temptation and ordered a Diablo driver and 3H a couple months ago and love ‘em. Just ordered the irons and I’m pretty excited to see how things change. The hand-me-downs were from my uncle who stood 5’8″…I’m 6’3″. Can’t wait for the April showers to end, that way I can hit the range and get set up with some lessons!!
Gday Mike I have just purchased a set of diablo edge irons how important is gettin them fitted i play off 12 with my old clubs that were cobras and were never fitted for me ????????????
The very first time i hit this club, i had been 25 yards further off the tee!!! I average 250-260 off of the tee,now in 275-290!!! This really is definitely the most effective dam driver period!
